When you register a domain through us, you can just park it for future use, or to prevent someone else from taking it, or you can get hosting with us, or elsewhere if you wish. You get full control of the various settings, like NS, A, CNAME, or MX records, and contact info, through a web-based interface. The price for registering a domain name includes our technical assistance for the period of the registration. If you have a domain name already registered and want to renew it through us, you can do that also. Maybe you want better control of the various settings, or easier access to DNS record changes. Maybe it's almost time for renewal and you want to save some money. By renewing through us, you get full control of your DNS records and settings, and our technical assistance for the period of the renewal. If you also plan to use our hosting services, you can register or transfer your domain at the same time the hosting is ordered. General Notes Top level domains, (TLD's), that are available to the public are growing regularly due to the rapid growth of the internet. Originally, all sites used the generic TLD's, (gTLD's), .com, .net, or .org, and a couple other special purpose TLD's, (sTLD's), .gov, .int, and .mil. The 3 gTLD's had specific purposes at first, but quickly became accepted as being for general use. There are new gTLD's, like .biz, .info, .name, and others being added. Most of these new ones have special purposes, but some are for general use. Other ones you may have heard of, .ca, .tv, .ws, .cc, and so on, are country code TLD's, (ccTLD's). These various extensions were given to specific countries to use as they wish. Some countries decided to allow world use of their ccTLD's which gave us more choices to register. New ccTLD's are being added to public use quite often. With the rapidly growing acceptance of so many alternatives, the importance of getting a .com url is dropping. It still is the most popular, and most wanted extension, but other options are getting more popular. If a name you want isn't available in .com, try a different TLD. Canadian ccTLD's .ca and provincial domains .ab.ca  .bc.ca  .mb.ca  .nb.ca  .nl.ca  .ns.ca  .nt.ca  .on.ca  .pe.ca  .qc.ca  .sk.ca  .yk.ca These are ccTLD's that belong to Canada. They were strictly for Canadian businesses at first, but are now available to Canadian citizens in general. As long as you are either a: - Canadian citizen - Permanent Canadian resident or legal representative of aforementioned - Canadian corporation, trust, partnership, or association you can register a .ca or provincial domain.
